Crump wins Red Marley Hill Climb 2016

Posted by Michael Eustace in News. Comments Off

30th March

21-YEAR-old Tom Crump dominated the Red Marley Hill Climb for the second year running aboard his 500cc Jawa.

The youngster, from nearby Clifton-upon-Teme, won both the Over 350cc and All Comers classes, and took the fastest time in the process.

A heavy downpour the day before meant times were never going to be approaching Tim Dallaway’s fastest time of 20.10sec from last year, or indeed Carl Pope’s record time of 19.58sec, but Crump still managed a very respectable 20.72sec run. Ricky Pedder (650cc Triumph Metisse) close behind with a 20.79sec ascent of the hill.

Pedder took a convincing victory in the All Stars class, whilst Paul Munslow took the Upto 350cc class aboard his 350cc Cheney BSA.

If money is no object, and you’re looking for a head-turning Rickman Metisse, then perhaps this one might float your boat.

Currently in the classifieds ads on eBay is this nice looking Mk3 Rickman Metisse fitted with a 475cc BSA engine, fully race prepared to take on AMCA classic scrambles events.

We think this a nice looking machine – hopefully we’ll see it being ridden at a meeting this year.

Crump wins Red Marley whilst Dallaway gets fastest time

Posted by Michael Eustace in News. Comments Off

9th April

We had to share this photo of Tim Dallaway taken by ClassicMXRider.com friend Eric Miles on Easter Monday at the 2015 Red Marley Hill Climb. The photo all but embodies the atmosphere and excitement that attracts so many spectators, and riders, to the event.

Dallaway went on to gain the fastest time of the day, with a time of 20.1secs, only marginally behind Richard Williams’ time at the event in 2014 od 19.83secs.

The final was made up of Carl Pope, Keith Barnes, Tom Crump and Dallaway. It was the later two who crossed the line first, a dead-heat in fact, and in the re-run, it was 20-year-old Crump who crossed the line first to take the win.
