ROUND 2 of the Pre-68 Championship proved that the competition is closer than ever with four separate competitors taking wins in each of the four races.
Roger Dunford (500 BSA) was quick off the line in race one and took the holshot ahead of a returning John Bateup. By the end of the lap, however, Bateup had dropped his 500 Triumph leaving Sam Heitman (500 Boretech Metisse) in second place with Sam Appleton (441 BSA Metisse) close in third, with Nick Archer (500 BSA) in fourth.
By lap three, Archer had overtaken Appleton and was hot on the heels for Heitman until they passed the chequered flag. VETERAN scrambler Jim Aim dominated Pre-65 class at the Dave Roper Memorial Motocross event held at Tye Farm in Sudbury, Suffolk on Sunday.
ON SUNDAY 14th April the Sudbury MCC will be holding the Dave Roper Memorial Motocross event at Tye Farm, Great Cornard, near Sudbury in Suffolk.
The event will cater for modern motocross machines, with classes for experts and juniors, and will also see 3 races for Evo, Twinshock and Pre-65 machines.
Dave, who was a former chairman of the Sudbury MCC, was well known within the motocross fraternity – and beyond – and successfully represented the England team at the Classic Motocross Des Nations. To mark the event, his youngest son, Jamie, will be riding with his father’s race number 374.
Practice starts at 10am followed by racing at 11am. Admission is £5, programmes are £2.
